What do WhatsApp’s fraud prevention measures offer?
The most significant innovation for WhatsApp is screen sharing controls during video calls. The app will now display a warning if a user shares their screen while talking to an unknown number. This feature will make it harder for fraudsters to obtain their banking information.
On the Messenger side, an advanced fraud detection system is being implemented. The app will automatically label potentially suspicious messages and warn the user to be vigilant. There’s also the option to send the message to AI for review.
Meta emphasizes the importance of these steps and announced that it blocked 8 million fraudulent accounts in the first half of 2025. Therefore, these new protections are crucial not only for older users but for all digital users.
